A Licence to Write: Roald Dahl and James Bond The surprising story of Dahl’s mission in the world of James Bond

Roald Dahl wrote the screenplay for You Only Live Twice, James Bond’s 5th outing on the big screen starring Sean Connery.  In this fascinating talk you’ll find out about the story behind the screenplay, Roald Dahl’s links to Ian Fleming and Dahl’s time as a spy during World War II.

Join Will Phillips, the Museum’s Head of Collections, as you discover some unexpected insights from Dahl’s life and how his wartime experiences fuelled his early writing. You’ll also get to see some exclusive items from the archive for your eyes only.

There will be time before the talk to explore the galleries and see the signed first draft manuscript of You Only Live Twice — on short-term loan to the Museum and only on display for a limited time. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask Will questions at the end of the talk.

£15 per person, includes a welcome drink

Doors at 7pm, talk at 7.45pm to 8.45pm
